2016 U.S. & Kansas Hard Red Winter Wheat Quality – Test Weight, Protein, Other Characteristics

Final estimates of protein levels for the 2017 U.S. Hard Red Winter Wheat Crop are now available from both private and public-USDA sources.

Findings are fairly consistent with readings of 11.2% protein from Plains Grains, Incorporated for the broader 2016 U.S. HRW wheat crop.  The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has estimated average 2017 Kansas HRW wheat protein to be 11.7%. but do vary by source.  Following are detailed reports from both sources.
